Founded in 2004 in Bloomington, MN, InterCity Direct is a family-owned operation that has spent the last two decades creating a secure and extraordinarily reliable carrier network. Our Kansas City office opened in 2008, focusing on sales, marketing, and dispatch operations. In 2011, the Kansas City office took on administrative and accounting functions for Kansas City and Bloomington and became the company headquarters in 2013. We expanded to Lenexa in 2014, and three years later, in 2017, we expanded again to add on an asset division, ICD Freight, Inc.

We are proud to partner with the SmartWay program. SmartWay, in partnership with the EPA, helps advance supply chain sustainability by measuring, benchmarking, and improving freight transportation efficiency in regard to environmental impact.

This drive to empower real people to experience logistics success is in InterCity Direct’s DNA. Our history is entwined with our owners’ family, the McMahons. R.D. McMahon returned from WWII, entered the trucking industry, and later started and operated several trucking companies. This began with two different companies – InterCity Express and Direct Transport – in the 1960’s and eventually expanded to the flagship company GreenField Transport operating 250 power units. This experience led to opening InterCity Direct’s first office in Bloomington, MN, in 2004.

We have a footprint that spans the continental United States and parts of Canada, with a primary operation spanning east of the Rockies, stretching from Texas to Minnesota on the west to Pennsylvania down to Georgia on the east.
